Claire 'Nine' Baker

Short bright red hair almost entirely covered by her hat, glass grey eyes hidden by a brown cowboy hat, about five feet and eight inches tall, barely a hundred and seventy pounds, and looking considerably younger (if not less weary) than her thirty odd years might imply...at first glance Claire is not the most imposing woman around town. Of course, that first glance is damn likely to get yourself killed by underestimating a woman who has survived over fifteen years 'on her own' in the wastes. Of course, it wasn't entire alone, but people tend to not count robots.

A second glace tends to gives a little better appreciation for a seriously dangerous woman, as Claire certainly has the right to be called. Thin lips smirk at inner thoughts as those glassy grey eyes remain almost perfectly alert to her surroundings. Her body holds a surprising percentage of muscle for her weight and size, and her hands rarely stray the few careful inches they keep from her hip holstered weapons, and one of them is missing a finger. Old wounds are barely visible, with mostly healed scars hiding from very rapid and attentive medical attention. The second glance reveals that Claire knows what she is doing, and wouldn't mind proving it.

Reinforced leather armor is the typical 'clothing' of choice, when out and about the wastes themselves. Hand-made from Gekko leather over her years traveling, with carefully sandwiched plates of metal carefully placed between the leather. Below the leather is a layer of cloth to prevent chafing, and the joints are typically just coated in cloth instead of with the whole kitten-caboodle to provide maximum range of motion. Inexpensive to maintain or repair, while still providing a decent degree of safety for anywhere below the neck, the armor has been a mainstay since she first completed it all those years ago. The armor completely coats her from her neck to her ankles, and includes a pair of leather gloves with metal spikes jutting from the knuckles. While the garment looks typically worn, as almost all garments do these days, the armor is in otherwise astounding condition as it's maintenance is paramount to her safety. It's simply brown, with the occasion points of the sheen of dull metal.

Over top the armor, Claire's clothing varies depending on the weather. While she prefers her rather raged and worn simple duster, she also carries a brown military greatcoat in her backpack for the colder weather. Her rather comfy leather boots are also hand-made, with the soles worn down to the point where she could read the street with them; just as she likes them. If for whatever reason unmentionables need mentioned, she has a few spare pairs of them and socks since you can always use a few spare pairs of socks in a pinch.



Completing her outfit is a large camping backpack, that is effectively her home. Everything she owns is either carried on this backpack or by TOMMY, but more on him in his own topic. The backpack's spacious enough to provide room for her spare coat and clothing, along with plenty of room for food, water, bullets, her flute, and some supplies. Scrap metal, ducktape, rope, bandages, various  chemicals, cleaning fluid, caps, and a considerable amount of useful materials are kept in convenient pouches, but the real good stuff is protected deep in the center of the backpack. Most of TOMMY's medical equipment is there in the center of the backpack, which is fair since TOMMY tends to lug around most of Claire's tools. Overall, the backpack is heavy, but certainly able to be carried.

Claire's choice of weaponry is as much pragmatic as it is effective, seeing as two of her weapons share an ammo type. The Winchester .44-40 round functions for both her Colt Frontier Revolver, which sits on her right hip, and her Winchester Model 1892 tucked on the right side of her backpack. Both weapons are considerably worn but are taken care of immaculately, and are cleaned almost ritually. While it's probable that not a single original part remains for either weapon, the two barely look like they have been cannibalized, which speaks loudly of their owner's abilities.




Besides those two weapons, Claire's backpack is balanced by the mother of all shotguns, the Winchester Model 1897 Trench shotgun slung on the left side of her pack. Carefully polished and brought back to nearly it's full glory, the weapon is her pride and joy. Firing 12 gauge shells, the shotgun is most certainly her business weapon of choice in any CQC situation. Especially since Claire tends to build her own ammunition.



And indeed, she does typically build her own ammunition, as Claire's primary strength out in the wastes is her ability to repair almost anything. Her ability to jury rig together almost anything is exceptionally handy, especially combined with her rare knowledge of old-world computers. Infact, she builty TOMMY herself nearly twelve years ago. Her skillset as an engineer, computer specialist, and handywoman makes her nearly invaluable to whoever has purchased her services. Adding in a penchant for administration and organization, and you have a woman very capable of putting entire towns back together...for the right price and with the right materials, of course.

Besides her technical know-how, she has the basics of first-aid down pat and a decent knowledge of living off the land; however, she typically leaves those sorts of things over to TOMMY as those are his specialties. She is also quite skilled in the usage of fire-arms, and has an uncanny knowledge for energy weapons even though she absolutely refuses to use them.

Lastly, the girl can hold her own without a weapon if need be. Her hand-to-hand skills are decent, but the spikes on the knuckles of her gloves certainly give her an edge in that department, and her final weapon is a full-custom lead pipe. Barely a foot and a half long, the pipe was given a real handle and hand-guard, carefully welded together, filled with sand, and welded shut at the top. "Night-Night" serves as quite possibly the most effective bludgeon possible in both weight and space, cracking bones and putting people straight out. If worst comes to worse, Claire's not afraid of getting her hands dirty.
